My Story
Hi there! If I’m going to get to know you and your food story, I’d be happy to share mine as well. My relationship with food has changed throughout my lifetime. When I began studying nutrition, I had the intention of helping others eat what I believed was “healthier.” However, during the course of my studies I realized that I was struggling with my own relationship with food at the time. It was while I was in school that I discovered Intuitive Eating and the Health At Every Size community. I quickly realized this was the key to healing my own relationship with food. After realizing the healing that Intuitive Eating provided in my own life, I knew this was the work I wanted to do. I would love to work with you and be able to share this joy with you.
My Philosophy
I want to help you learn more about Intuitive Eating (it is not just eating when you are hungry and stopping when you are full!). I will not put you on a diet or give you any rules to follow. Instead, I will work with you to help you figure out what is best for you. I will teach you the skills needed to help you learn how to listen to and nourish your body.
My Biography
I graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a Bachelors in Psychology. After a volunteer year with an Americorps program, I pursued a degree in Elementary Education. I taught for a few years before discovering my true passion for nutrition. I then attended University of Illinois at Chicago and graduated with a Masters of Science in Nutrition. I am a member of the Illinois and Chicago chapters of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics , the Behavioral Health Practice Group, and the Association for Size Diversity and Health. I live in the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago with my husband, three young kids, and our semi-crazy dog. Originally from Southern California, I have lived in Chicago for over 12 years and love to be able to call this beautiful city home. In my free time, I love exploring the city, running along the lakefront path with friends, baking, wandering Target, and reading.
